To assess the effect of nifedipine GITS (vs placebo) on the combined rate of death from any cause, acute myocardial infarction
(MI), emergency coronary angiography for refractory angina, overt heart failure, debilitating stroke and peripheral
revascularisation in ambulant patients with angina
